SKIPTON have a new skipper as they bid to get in the promotion mix in the Aire-Wharfe League.
The Sandylanders, who finished fourth in Division Three last term, have experienced all-rounder Gary Owens at the helm, replacing Shahid Nadeem, while Kier Nelson is vice-captain.
Skipton, who begin at Guiseley tomorrow (April 16), have not been idle off the pitch either this winter, and there is a new four-lane practice facility at the rugby end of the ground.
Steeton, who finished eighth in Division Two in 2021, will have to cope without experienced duo Gary Boulton and John Akrigg in 2022.
Both have opted to step down to second XI cricket, but the Summerhill Lane club have signed Australian wicketkeeper-batsman Jack Ramage and, from closer to home, batter Louis Horsfield from Keighley.
Other signings include former Keighley player Ryan Ridehalgh and opening bowler James Mcdonald from Sutton.
Steeton start at Horsforth.
