GARGRAVE gave title-chasing Oakworth a decent test when they met at Wide Lane in Mewies Solicitors Craven League Division One.

Visitors Gargrave, 6-3 at one stage, were revived by James Freebury (65) and skipper Will Smith (43), who added 118 for the fourth wicket on their way to 191-7, Chris Lambert adding an unbeaten 26.

Second-placed Oakworth won by three wickets in the 34th over, despite George Beckwith taking 3-14 for the fifth-placed visitors.

Cowling are having an up and down season, but were on the up after a 27-run victory at Ingrow.

Naqi Hassan was Cowling’s match-winner, hitting 96 not out in their 174-6 and then taking 4-31 as Ingrow were dismissed for 147.

Darab Khan (27), Laiq Ur Rehman (23 and 4-28) also contributed to Cowling’s success.

Sutton started well at home to leaders Bingley Congs, with Sam Solley (41) adding 54 for the second wicket with Stuart Tillotson (12), but then came the collapse from 56-1 to 99 all out.

Congs then knocked off the runs required without loss in 12.4 overs as Sutton are more than a maximum win behind at the bottom.

Silsden have gone second in Division Two after a 41-run win at home to Airedale.

Both teams were 39-5, but Silsden’s recovery was greater thanks to opener Rob Jones (82, including 13 fours), who added 53 for the sixth wicket with Johnny Atherton (16).

Airedale were then dismissed for 113 as Joshua Waind took 3-26 and Alex Nelson 4-13.

Only five points separate second and fourth, which is occupied by Glusburn, who lost by four wickets at home to Bradley, who are now sixth.

The home side chose to bat and made 155, with keeper James Tillotson (36) and Irfan Khaliq (32) putting on 67 for the seventh wicket as Toby Meynell (3-40) and Caleb Lister (3-13) tried to keep them in check.

Impressive all-rounder Meynell then made 63 not out, putting on 72for the third wicket with Mohammed Qadeer (40) as Bradley won at the end of the 35th over.

Skipton CI did not really cash in after winning the toss at Foulridge, making only 137 after being 58-1, with Chris Kimberley scoring 32 and Steven Davidson 21.

The hosts then won by six wickets in the 36th over.

Cononley, who easily disposed of Gargrave II, are only a point behind Division Three leaders Thornton-in-Craven, who had a week off.

Nathan Parker (28), Andrew Starkey (56), Tom Feather (39) and Ihsanulla Daulatzia (24) were in the runs in Cononley’s 192-9, with Tony Spensley taking 3-65 and Dieter Kayley 4-24.

The home side were then skittled for 114, Spensley scoring 50, with Harry Parker taking 6-27 and Feather 2-23.

Skipton CI II were on the wrong end of things at home to Hepworth & Idle II, who made 236-5, with John Stuttard taking 2-42.CI were then dismissed for 154.

Cowling II handed Oakworth II a walkover.

In Division Four, Glusburn II topped 300 again, making 309-8 this time against Hepworth & Idle III, with runs coming from Akram Javed (42), Rafaqat Hussain (35), Mark Pickles (84, including 12 fours and three sixes) and skipper Richard Parkin (66no, including eight fours and four sixes) as 73 runs came for the first wicket and 120 for the third.

The Westfield Laners replied with 120, collapsing from 83-3 to 89-8 as Pickles (4-40) and Alan Coney (5-38) impressed with the ball.
