CRAVEN Lawn Tennis Club in Gargrave has been able to extend its playing times thanks to the introduction of floodlights.

The state of the art new system means that members and guests can now play in the dark evenings, right up until 9.30pm, says the club.

It is a first for the club which says it will mean members being able to get the best possible value from their annual membership.

In addition to extended playing hours, the club, which has four grass courts, and three all-weather, is planning to start running 'cardio tennis' sessions.

The high energy sessions, which combine tennis and cardiovascular exercise, are ideal for those looking for an introduction to the sport, says the club, or for those who want to return to it.

They will be held on Wednesday evenings, with two hour long sessions starting at 6.15pm and at 7.15pm. Sessions will be limited to 10 players, and will cost £7.50 for non-members. The first will take place on October 11.

There will also be evening sessions of social tennis, singles tennis and doubles tennis for members and guests.
