Steeton’s Boxing Day derby against Route One Rovers at Marley in the North West Counties Football League First Division North is off due to gas supply issues at the venue.

Even worse, the problem is not one that can be resolved quickly, meaning neither landlords Steeton nor tenants Route One will be able to play home games at the ground for the next few weeks.

Fixtures will either have to be postponed for the pair, or be reversed so they play their opponents away instead, with the home fixture instead rescheduled for later in the season.

Promotion-chasing Route One, who were the designated home team for the Boxing Day fixture, have also seen their upcoming home games against Runcorn Town and Daisy Hill postponed, but they do have an away game on Saturday, December 30, away to Garstang.

Mid-table Steeton were supposed to play AFC Blackpool at Marley next Saturday, but their opponents have agreed to reverse the fixture.

That means Steeton visit the Lancashire side next weekend, before hosting the seaside outfit on Saturday, March 16.
