IT was late heartbreak for Barnoldswick Town as a late West Didsbury & Chorlton penalty earned the hosts all three points.

Rhain Davis scored twice, his goals coming either side of a Gareth Hill strike just before the interval, but the latter’s goal wasn’t enough for the visitors to take home a point.

Davis’ first strike was the home side’s first opportunity of the game, and he was hand to clinically dispatch his effort beyond the reach of Jakovlevs in Barlick’s goal.

Hill’s leveller came after some great work by Ben Ashton on the wing, who then delivered a wicked ball onto the head of Hill, and he made no mistake in burying the chance to tie the score at 1-1 heading into the break.

The home side’s winner came from the spot; Jakovlevs bringing down his man in the penalty area in the 85th minute. Up stepped Davis to send his side into a 2-1 lead.

The aftermath of the penalty resulted in West Didsbury being reduced to ten men, while Barlick’s Ryan Moore was sent to the sinbin.

Up next for Town is a trip to Burscough tomorrow.
