Wharfedale’s player-coach Tom McGee has been keeping his players on the ball during the recent bad weather.
The first team squad have been splitting their twice-weekly training sessions between an indoor facility in Grassington and the all-weather pitch at Skipton, McGee said: “While the weather conditions haven’t been ideal, we have been able to work on our core skills.”
Wharfedale were left without a game for the second-successive week when their away clash at Cinderford was postponed last Saturday, now they are anxious to get back into action against Rosslyn Park at the Avenue on Saturday.
McGee has been delighted with the progress his young side has made this season, and while he admits that the current league position isn’t as good as he would like, he is happy with the big strides the team is making.
He said: “There is good competition for places and even though we have lost a number of experienced players through injury, the team has continued to function well.
“Players like Will Bell have stepped up and shown what they can do at first team level.”
McGee, who has been forced to play for much of the season after injury accounted for two experienced props, added: “I hope that my experience alongside that of Andy Hodgson and Rob Baldwin helps them to take the right decisions at the right time.
“The great thing about this squad of players is that they all want to play for the club, and do well for it.
“What we have to do now is turn all that talent, and honest endeavour into consistent match-winning displays.”
