Run crazy Nick Cokell and Settle re-wrote the Houldsworth Ribblesdale League record books with an astonishing Second Division win over luckless Stacksteads on Saturday.

Captain Cokell's massive 275 not out was the highest individual score posted in the history of the league.

And Settle's 467-1 in 45 overs dwarfed the previous best team score of 400-3 achieved by Feniscowles against Ghyll in 2010.

"I'd never even scored a century before," said weary Cokell after his batting master class.

"I think my previous best score was 68 not out!

"But I don't think it will ever happen again in my lifetime."

Cokell's innings of destruction included 40 fours and six sixes. It topped John Rain's junior league best of 203 for Ribblesdale Wanderers against Edenfield in 1998 and also Kashif Siddique's Senior League record of 233 for Padiham against Ribblesdale Wanderers five years ago.

Cokell's run feast was shared by Kieran Ashley who smashed an unbeaten 95 and Chris Wallbank who hit 72.

"We just went out to have some batting practice," said the 22-year-old, a barman at the Station Inn at Ribblehead

"But a few of the lads weren't happy they didn't get a look in. I couldn't run at the end and probably stopped Kieran reaching his own ton."

Not content with inflicting misery on the inexperienced Stacksteads bowlers, Settle then demolished the home's side batting line-up. In just 9.5 overs they dismissed Stacksteads for only 15 with John Tarbox claiming 5-3.

And while the 452 margin of victory was another record, Stacksteads at least avoided the ignominy of the lowest ever total. Sabden managed only 11 in 1924 and 1931 but even that is a sizeable tally when compared with Earby's three ironically against Settle in 1903.
