KEIGHLEY bowler Chris Wilson produced a quality performance at Cross Hills to take the Norman Johnston Trophy, winning the final 21-13 win over team-mate and six-times winner Richard Hargreaves.

In the quarter finals Mick Cox beat Trevor Hargreaves 21-14, Richard Hargreaves won 21-12 against Ian Bernard, Stuart Myers saw off Derek Seed 21-12 and Chris Wilson defeatedAlister Keighley 21-10.

Richard Hargreaves quickly opened a 12-3 lead in his semi-final against Mick Cox on his way to a 21-13 victory.

Wilson, who bowled very well to beat Keighley to reach the last four, continued in fine style with a very comfortable 21-8 semi-final win over Cononley’s Myers.

The Cross Hills green was in good condition, perfect for a good final, for the two Keighley A team players. A nice even start saw chalks for both players with Hargreaves leading 7-6 after five ends, Wilson then got a small break to lead 11-7.

The jack kept changing hands which suited Wilson as Hargreaves could not reduce the lead, in the end poor leads from Hargreaves gave Wilson the chance to get a winning break.

He needed no second chance as he took the last three ends to produce a worthy 21-13 win. The Norman Johnston Trophy was presented by league president Alister Keighley.
