SKIPTON junior member Frazer Clarke has been selected to represent the Yorkshire Boys under-15 Squad.

The 12-year-old, who lives in Skipton, will now receive specialist tuition from some of the county’s top coaches in the whole spectrum of the game, including physical fitness and diet.

Frazer, a pupil at the town’s Ermysted’s Grammar School, took up golf at the tender age of six, with lessons from Ben Mallinson at Skipton, before progressing on to coaching with Jonathan Pearson, PGA & TPI level three junior coach at Cookridge, for the past four years.

He has improved his game quickly, winning a number of junior tournaments and is now playing off a handicap of 18. He also plays soccer with Grassington Juniors.

Frazer’s ambition is to study Sports Science at an American college, while playing the ProAM tour and hopefully making it as a professional golfer on the PGA tour.

It’s an aim that has the full backing of his grandfather Peter Akers, a long-standing Skipton member. He said: “I am both proud and pleased that he is making such excellent progress,” he said.
