WITH the only below-par total of the day, Peter Johnson added the Summer Medal Cup to his ever-increasing collection of silverware last Sunday at SETTLE.

Johnson's nett 69 gave him a three-shot margin over a trio with two-over-par nett 72s.

However, club president Patrick Daley produced the lowest gross score of the day and deservedly took the runners-up spot on countback from John Read and Peter Wroe.

Next week the popular Winter League starts at Settle, and it is hoped that there will be a good turnout.

On Saturday, mixed teams competed for the Butterfield Trophy. Mark and Jemma Vickery held off a strong challenge from Jemma's parents John and Janet Lassey. Alan and Daphne Wright were third.

The last summer competitions at SKIPTON provided some close finishes.

In the September Medal, only a countback decided the top place in Division One, Keith Bottomley defeating the ever-improving Gregor Myles after both had returned nett 67s.

Division Two winner was Dean Holmes with a nett 64 – the best score on the day – one ahead of Bernard Boylan.

In the October event, Jason Brown came out on top with a nett 64 to win by one from Peter Lower. Les Hobson was first in Division Two with a nett 69.

In the Harold Ideson mixed fourball event, father and daughter Alistair and Sarah Coy finally took some silverware, thanks to a magnificent back nine played in level-par gross to give them 44 points.

It was a close run thing, however, and needed a countback with Sam Stewart and Dagmar Hecker-Woodhead, with the Coys' back nine proving decisive.
