THE weekend saw the knock-out finals of Skipton Golf Club’s Ladies section get under way.

First up was the Quaiche final between Judy Shaw and Hannah Eaton.

Eaton was never down in the match and what proved to be the decisive moment came as early as the fourth hole.

Despite losing a ball, Eaton produced a marvellous chip in to win the hole and go to two up. Shaw did her best to get back in the game but Hannah proved too strong on the day eventually running out a 6&4 winner.

The Ladies Scratch final played over 36 holes saw Eaton's sister Milly in action against former ladies captain Amanda Kilner.

It was Kilner who struck the early blow with a birdie two at the opening hole and it was a lead she would never relinquish.

The game was effectively settled towards the end of the opening round with Kilner winning both the 17th and 18th to be five up at lunch, she then won the first three holes of the afternoon to increase her lead.

Her opponent is not one to give up and slowly clawed her way back and was only five down with the last nine holes to play. Another birdie up the tenth hole for Kilner settled things down and she saw the game out to win 7&6.
