THERE was a strong field at Settle on Sunday for the Paul Dutton Memorial Trophy.

After all the morning starters had completed their rounds it was rather surprising that Peter Eccleston's modest 30 stableford points should see him at the top of the leaderboard.

The afternoon starters produced similar results with the course obviously playing quite difficult.

However it was club stalwart Andrew Mills who turned back the clock and put together the best round of the day.

His front nine was the model of consistency, containing nine nett pars, and although he was unable to maintain the same level over the back nine his final score of 31 was good enough for him to take the trophy. Seniors' captain MiIke Elstub also came in with 30 points but was edged out of second place on countback by Eccleston.
