Wharfedale look like being frozen out for the second successive weekend.

Opponents London Scott-ish were expected to hold an inspection of their ice-bound Richmond pitch today.

And with temperatures continuing to plunge the prospects of the National League One game going ahead are slim.

The Barbarian were due to train there in the build up to Saturday’s match with South Africa at Twickenham, but they were forced to make alternative arrangements.

Having had to call off last Saturday’s home game against Blackheath due to snow, Wharfedale are bracing themselves for further disruption to their programme.

The Blackheath fixture was called off to prevent their opponents from travelling by train from London.

“It was frustrating,” said club official Gordon Brown. “The pitch had been covered but snow fell on top of them.

“With more bad weather forecast – although it didn’t materialise – the decision was taken to call the game off.”

Wharfedale have re-arranged the Blackheath game for Saturday, February 5, but only have one more blank date in which to re-arrange a game without having to extend the season.

“It is unusual to lose games to snow this early in the season,” said Brown.

Coach Tom McGee and his players have been forced to train indoors this week because the pitch at the Avenue is now buried beneath a foot of snow.
