The Craven Community Champions scheme will celebrate the achievements of individuals within the district, recognising the invaluable contributions they make to their communities and the lives of local people.

Nominations are now being sought in seven categories and you can either nominate yourself, or someone you know.

The categories are:

  • Arts and Culture Award (Sponsored by Peel Entertainment): This award celebrates those who have made an outstanding contribution to arts and cultural activities and improving citizen participation.
  • Carer/ Paid Care Worker of the Year Award (Sponsored by Cirteq): The Carer of the Year Award recognises the significant role that all carers undertake each day, we are looking for nominations from professional and unpaid carers that have made outstanding contributions working in either residential, respite, nursing, supported housing, day services or unpaid caring roles.
  • Community Group Award (Sponsored by Yorkshire Housing): This award recognises and rewards a community group who have made an outstanding contribution to their community.
  • Sports Award (sponsored by Craven Pool and Fitness Centre): This award celebrates those who have made an outstanding contribution to sporting activities and improving citizen participation.
  • Volunteer of the Year Award (Coniston Hotel): This award recognises and rewards an individual volunteer who have made an outstanding contribution to their community.
  • Young Citizen of the Year Award (Sponsored by the Rotary Clubs of Skipton and Skipton Craven): This award will be given to a young citizen aged between 13 - 19 in recognition of his or her outstanding contributions directly to Craven during the past year. The judges will be looking for young people who are looking for commitment and a positive attitude combined with a natural interest and ability to address issues which adversely affect people's lives so creating practical solutions to everyday problems.
  • Citizen of the Year Award (Sponsored by Broughton Hall): This award will be given to a citizen in recognition of his or her outstanding contributions directly to Craven during the past year and will be judged on outcomes for the community. Every community award submission will automatically be entered into this award category.
